Prison Pedal Power

Sheriff, Joe Arpaio started the inmates at the Tent City Jail in Phoenix, Ariz. pedaling for the privilege of watching TV. One hour of pedaling allows an inmate to spend one hour viewing television. Here is a win, win situation for overweight and under exercised inmates. The sheriff said “If an inmate slows down and fails to pedal fast enough, an audible noise sounds off to warn inmates that the TV is shutting down.” He says, “Peer pressure will have them pedaling, at least right up to the commercial breaks.” Now we just need to get kids in schools pedaling to use the computers or just plain peer pressure to keep the lights on!
